About Sheila Beaty
My philosophy in working with clients is to use Biblical principles to help them find the strength within themselves to identify and cope with the challenges of life. I have been counseling for seven years, first through area community mental health agencies, and now through Pine Vale Children's Home and private practice. As my educational background reflects, I enjoy working with individuals (adults and children) as well as couples and families. I use a cognitive behavioral approach, a model that is based on the view that stressful states such as depression, anxiety and anger are often maintained or made worse by our own thoughts and emotions about our situation. Together, we will address these stressful states and negative emotions to identify how they may be distorting your thinking, which in turn may be affecting your behaviors and relationships.
I have a master's degree in Licensed Professional Therapy from Regions University (formerly Southern Christian University) and I am a PhD candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Amridge University. I am married, and my husband and I have two children and two grandchildren.
